Ingredients
Idli Batter, to make 12 idlies.
1/2 cup onions, chopped
1/2 cup carrots, grated
1 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
salt to taste
a pinch baking soda
water

Method

  1. Add the baking soda to water (depending on how much you have to add the idli batter).
  2. Mix the onion, carrot, water and salt to taste to the idli batter.
  3. Steam the idlis. (Cook them how you would normally).

Masala idlis remind me of one of the pushcart idli shops in Jayanagar, Blr where there wd be a huge crowd. The shop guys used to make yummy Masala idlis and softtttt rice idlis. Very nice posting.
